Letter Spacing in Jersey Names

If the letters in the name on the jersey are too close together, the word may become difficult to read. If they are spaced too far apart, the text may spill outside the allotted area. Make spacing decisions using actual player names.

First, keep the font size constant and only adjust the letter spacing. Try the setting that looks appropriate for a short name on a long name as well. Evaluating both looks together prevents applying a layout prepared for only one player to the entire team.
