Contoured Jersey Number Design

The border around the number can separate the digit from the background in some jersey designs. However, when used too thickly, it can narrow the inner spaces of the digit. Compare the look with and without a border at the same scale.

First, check the contrast between the number color and the background. Do not attempt to solve poor color separation solely with a complex border. If you are going to use a border, also examine how the same thickness looks on different digits.
