An undershirt is considered the base layer worn under a jersey or training gear. Short-sleeved, long-sleeved, and sleeveless cuts provide different levels of coverage. The product being called an undershirt does not necessarily mean it has thermal or compression features.

Fit Under the Jersey

Check the shoulder width, chest circumference, and torso length together. If your waist is exposed when raising your arms or if fabric bunches up under the armpits, it may indicate a poor fit. How the neckline of the undershirt looks with the collar of the jersey can also be considered when choosing.

Sizing of the Base Layer

You can compare the chest circumference, shoulder width, and torso length with a comfortable garment you already own. Do not randomly choose a smaller size for a tighter fit. Fabric composition and seam placement in an undershirt are just as important as color. During care, follow the washing and drying instructions specified on the manufacturer's label.
